Is Brazil breaking with its nonviolent past?

The political system has been shocked by the discovery and prosecution of corruption; the disruption of the presidential term of Dilma Roussef and the escalation of the attack of organized crime against political institutions. Brazilian people have thus launched themselves in search of a rescuer.

Latin America 17 Years after September 11, 2001

Two historic events that have marked the 21st Century happened on 11 September of 2001. The terrorist attack against the United States by the Al-Qaeda network (9/11) and the signing, in Lima, Peru, of the Interamerican Democratic Charter (IDC). Seventeen years later, the challenge is to revert the negative effects of 9/11 and end dictatorships.

  • The Interamerican Institute for Democracy is a non-profit organization under regulation 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Contributions may qualify as donations from corporate entities. Contributions – tax free as permitted by law – are received from individuals, foundations, corporations, and limited partnerships.
