Unemployment benefits, is more always better?

Protecting workers from the vicissitudes of fortune may appear a noble idea, but there are unintended consequences. The first consideration should be whether shielding us from the vicissitudes of fortune is a legitimate function of government, but let us put that philosophical question aside for another day to focus now on unemployment insurance.

Proteger a los trabajadores de los vaivenes de la suerte puede parecer una idea noble, pero tiene consecuencias involuntarias. La primera consideración debería ser si protegernos de los vaivenes de la suerte es una función legítima de gobierno, pero dejemos esa pregunta filosófica para otro día y enfoquémonos ahora en el seguro de desempleo.
