In conversations with some friends of firm democratic convictions, I have appreciated a discreet defense of the aggression of the KGB colonel, Vladimir Putin, against Ukraine, something difficult to understand when one has the knowledge that they are people who have invariably repudiated dictators, in particular, those who, like Putin, Xi Jimping and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, are allies of the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan regimes and direct supporters of the genocidal Syrian Bashar al Assad.
The attack led by Putin against an independent nation has nothing to do with a possible international conspiracy that seeks to violate our rights and opportunities. This criminal action only seeks to satisfy the imperial ambitions of a former KGB colonel, a criminal force only comparable by its brutality to the Gestapo, which also trained the Cuban political police and by derivation that of Maduro, Ortega and Evo Morales.
Putin is not a man of good will, a reality that was evidenced by the high military rank he reached in the Soviet security forces, which supported Castroism and tried to impose communism throughout the world. My friend the writer José Antonio Albertini says that defects are accentuated over the years, and the Russian despot would not be an exception.
This autocrat was Prime Minister in 1999, in 2000 he held the presidency, which alternated with the position of Premier when legislation prevented him from being re-elected, which makes him similar to the typical Latin American caudillo of the Ortega and Maduro cut
Addressing this issue may have negative repercussions on some friends and, I am sorry, but it is what I consider necessary to remember that, in 2008, the would-be Tsar of all Europe, at the time Prime Minister of Russia, attacked Georgia, due to a territorial dispute in a region in whose subsoil there are important oil and gas reserves, an issue that the press and experts on international affairs barely addressed because for many of them the only ones who start wars for oil is the United States.
That same colonel has largely prevented the Syrian people from conquering their freedom with massive bombings similar to those occurring in Ukraine, which is why the Syrian city of Aleppo should be twinned with the Ukrainian Mariupol, both have been victims of unjustified bombing of Vladimir Putin.
The war in Georgia was beneficial for Russia, because it imposed governments that represent its interests in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, in short, in the 21st century, a capricious dictator creates duchies as if we were in the Middle Ages.
The warlike conflicts since Putin came to power have had different consequences, both on a human and political level. The Kremlin hierarch established governments related to the interests of Moscow, in regions of Georgia, also in the Republic of Chechnya, part of the Russian Federation, which sought independence from Russia. The colonel’s shelling destroyed the city of Grozny, the capital.
As if this record were not enough, the Russian dictator is accused of ordering the death of several opponents, as well as the imprisonment of others, such as Aleksei Nalvany, who after being poisoned is being held in a Russian prison, as is the case in Cuba. with Félix Navarro Rodríguez and José Daniel Ferrer and a thousand other Cubans, as is also the case in Nicaragua, Venezuela and Bolivia.
For not a few analysts, Ukraine’s independence was a huge blow to Moscow, which is why it encouraged the separation of Donetsk and Lugansk, 2014, pro-Russian regions, something similar to what happened in Georgia in 2008. It supplied its supporters with weapons, among them the missile launcher that shot down flight MH17 killing 298 people unrelated to the Russian dispute with Ukraine.
Putin, in the same 2014 annexed the Crimean peninsula, territory of Ukraine since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, 1991, after having occupied it with soldiers who did not wear the Russian uniform and having repeatedly stated that he did not intend to incorporate that region to your country. Later he organized a referendum in Crimea that was declared invalid by the United Nations.
Vladimir Putin’s regime is a certain and dangerous threat to all of us who believe in democracy.
