In 1948 upon the adoption of the Universal declaration on Human rights the world sighted in relief. Slavery had finally been vanquished, as from now on slavery would be illicit. Soon after several strains of the disease began to sprout all over the world. These are sex trafficking, forced labor and migrant smuggling. And contrary to what many think, human trafficking is a very profitable endeavor. These economic returns are one of the pillars on which transnational organized crime builds other criminal activities such as terrorism finance and drug trafficking. In the end only organized crime gains with human trafficking. The creation of an appropriate international coordination center with secure technical equipment with capacity to direct law enforcement agencies to the very spots where criminal rings concentrate assets and resources, establish stash houses and place victims. Identification of money deposits would also be very useful in so far as the trade cannot be deployed without cash.
To resist -at any cost- in the absolute control of power. To destabilize democracies through the promotion and fostering of internal conflict, the commission of crime, subversion, terrorist attempts, mass protests with the appearance of social or political protest, and more. To politicize to the maximum -in the international arena- the defense and image of dictators. To “negotiate” by availing themselves of national or international mediators who are manipulated, this is their means of bringing about the easing of tensions and deceive to appear to be ending the regime, when in reality they strengthen it. To end with the usurpation of power, we must avoid falling again into their plan and take the initiative.
The world will soon see at full play a generation of leaders that is hacking savvy. This is to say a generation that understands systemic failures and weaknesses and aptly exploit them to their gain. This is precisely what hackers do in cyberspace. These leaders have in common their keen knowledge of the weakness of their national systems and those of the world order. They then chose to aggravate those weaknesses and to push their interests through in the midst of the confusion that their behavior generates. They are thus unleashing worldwide forces that are shaping the future of the world economic and political order in manners that nobody expected.
American power companies have created in their country a contention wall to prevent renewables from gaining too much ground while the country continues to exploit its oil and natural gas wells. And these policies have percolated to Latin America where a regulatory cum public policies wall has created a virtual fossil fuels monopoly that hinders competition from renewables in a very effective way. In exchange for the policy created monopolies these companies agree to mix their gasoline and diesel with biofuels extracted from sugar cane or recycled waste such as used cooking oil. Most capital is now in the hands of private concerns known as hedge funds the revamp of the Latin American energy grid will most probably be affected through public-private partnerships. And these will not only introduce new and cleaner sources but will blowup the public policy created fossil fuel monopoly.
“Add poor or inexistent infrastructure, a distributive economic policy which penalizes middle class growth, rampant corruption and wrong ideology and guess what Latin America is going to look like in the world of the Belt Road Initiative,” “Something to give us all insomnia!!!!!”
Thirty years ago in China, there was a burgeoning pro-democracy movement made up mostly of young people that was brutally crushed by the Chinese military. This is now known as the Tiananmen Square massacre. Since then, not only has China continued its practice of authoritarian rule and human rights violations but it has become a superpower whose model of repression has been adopted by a good number of authoritarian regimes worldwide. China has become not only a huge repressor of social dissent and protest but also increased the capability of the state to spy on citizens and punish them harshly. The U.S. needs to take these powerful activities by an unfriendly competitor into account and proceed accordingly to develop and install anti-censorship mechanisms.
Almagro again uses a “double standard” in excluding to deal with Bolivia’s crisis at the OAS’ 49th General Assembly. While Secretary Almagro’s assessment of Venezuela’s and Nicaragua’s situation is right on target, he uses a double standard with Bolivia’s situation with his statements made this past 17th of May backing Morales’ fourth, criminal, consecutive candidacy. In Bolivia, none of the essential elements of democracy are met; human rights and individual basic freedoms are violated, the country is a “narco-state”. Americas’ democratic governments CANNOT ignore Bolivia’s crisis at the 49th General Assembly, they should all demand Secretary Almagro to report on Bolivia’s situation within the framework of his obligations.
The Organization of American States (OAS) General Secretary gave his backing to a disqualified Evo Morales endorsing his fourth consecutive candidacy to Bolivia’s presidency as a “human right”, the condemnation to Luis Almagro’s actions and arguments for committing and holding up such a felony is massive. People, journalists, organizations, academicians, parliamentarians, and diplomats, point out perplexed the General Secretary’s opposite position dealing with the same facts elsewhere and ask the OAS for concrete actions. The OAS, however, has not addressed the issue and up to now covers up “Almagro’s double standard”. The OAS is a political entity of 35 States represented by their governments where each government’s interests and ideology define their position and therefore the Organizations’ course. The General Secretary is the OAS’ legal representative, elected by the General Assembly for a 5-year term, and can only be reelected once. If the OAS at its 49th General Assembly does not deal with Almagro’s deplorable conduct to benefit Bolivia’s dictatorship and applies the IDC to Bolivia, just as it did to Venezuela, besides covering it up, the OAS will be enabling the fourth Castroist Chavist dictatorship to have a firm foothold in Bolivia and will add a new violation of its principles and objectives, taking this institution back to the days of Insulza’s Organization.
Secretary Almagro, before Evo Morales at the government offices in La Paz, said: “To say that Evo Morales cannot participate today, that would be absolutely discriminatory with the other Presidents who have participated in electoral processes based on a Judicial decision recognizing the guarantee of their human rights «is a “shady guarantee” because it contradicts the sustained and managed by Almagro himself in this same case, has no clarity or transparency, falls into the realm of the dishonest and dubious legality. With the backing of Almagro, Morales will fulfill his plan. That is why it is urgent to clarify whether Almagro can fight against the dictatorships of Venezuela and Cuba while consolidating the dictatorship of the same criminal group in Bolivia.
