The appreciation with respect to “Chinese civilization”, among other aspects, that it has a history of more than 3,500 years, is concluded to be “the oldest”. It is also read that “the Chinamen” conceived it from very early on, we do not know if because of their enlightenment or because of the vividness that typifies them, as “the center of the universe”, but also “the most advanced civilization”.
When inquiring about the personality of the Chinese, a priori it is stated that they are “inaccessible, stuck and mysterious”, but in the opinion of many they paint, rather, “joyful, kind and even complacent”. In one typology or another, the truth is that they were governed by “Chairman Mao”, who directed the “Communist Party” from its foundation in 1949 until his death (1976). He was also “theorist, military strategist and poet.” Undoubtedly, an atypical personality, so suddenly it would not seem unreasonable to believe that he agrees with that of his subjects. However, in the particularity of China and the Chinese, the influence of other civilizations must also be taken into account, among them, those of the Greeks and Romans with traces on the so-called “Silk Road”. In fact, it is noted that King Ying Zheng proclaimed himself “Huangdi, emulating “Emperor Augustus”, a way for the world and the gods to assume “a new dynasty”. “Huangdi”, also known as “The Yellow Emperor”, is credited, by the way, with the invention of worm farming and silk processing techniques. (Cardini and Vanoli, The Silk Road, 2022).
Nowadays, as was logical to expect, reference is made to the “New Silk Road”, weak and to the worm (Bombyx mori), whose natural process was interrupted so that the thread would unravel from the capuyo. Marketing is no longer limited to silk, as humanity has undergone profound political, religious, economic and linguistic and historical identity transformations. “The route of the caterpillar and capuyo” is today, definitely another. There is no corner of the world that does not participate in it and even without realizing it.
It is significant to state, however, that President Xi Jinping, re-elected a few days ago, has decided to rename the old “route”, calling it “One Belt, One Road” with a maritime and a land slope from Central Asia to Europe, connecting with Africa. It is, as it is written, the most ambitious political movement, but covered with historical reminiscences, which seems to indicate that for Xí the silkworm has not died. China, where they would start from, would seem to induce Xí to remember the vocation of “the Chinamen” to restore their traditional place as a superpower. It would therefore be an “economic initiative” and a “diplomatic offensive”. It involves the construction of large works, as well as energy, financial, scientific and technological cooperation. It also provides for an economic integration area. Beijing plans to contribute 40,000 million dollars. For some it would be the most ambitious economic strategy since the Marshall Plan.
The project encounters objections regarding its implementation, qualifying itself more as a strategic vision than a clear and definitive approach. However, it is recognized that China has plenty of reasons to invest in seeking an international system that is more favorable to its values and interests (Sandra Ramos, 2016). Nor can the climax of danger be left aside, which, of course, would accompany Hi Jinping’s initiative, since “the caterpillars today” feed on nuclear energy and can vomit it at any time. It is not about capuyos for silk. The US, Russia, and China, among other empires, tend to threaten each other daily in the face of humanity’s tribulation. An attack on the arrangement that the world demands today. The route is today persuasive or dissuasive, convincing or convinced by the different powers, ill-gotten money, drug trafficking, limitations on human rights. The guideline “you take off so I can put on” is the traffic light that guides drivers, but with the warning that the red and green lights are at the mercy of “a perverse individualism”. The world, as it sounds, changes, but we don’t know if it’s for the worse than we are.
“The appropriation of democracy” must be added to the list by atypical regimes based on the exploitation of ignorance, of a generous system in search of cooperation for promotion to governments, whose leaders usually first fill their pockets with money that they have to hide so much that they don’t know if it was more difficult to apprehend it than to enjoy it. The current confrontation in Brazil between Jair Bolsonaro and Luis Ignacio da Silva has the voters truly entangled, and they do not seem to want to vote. Evidence of deep discontent.
In the crisis in Latin America, Chinese people are looked at with “paura”, to the extent that the common people are listened to. What are these Chinese going to do here? And in conversations between Venezuelans you hear “this is full of Chinese.” Frequently asked questions and answers.
It is not surprising, therefore, that popular sympathy leads to the assertion that “The Chinese are around here taking advantage of “the fattening route”.
Well, there is no doubt that they are clever.
