China’s soft economic power grows in Latin America but U.S can play a more important card By Luis Fleischman On September 7, 2018 China is not the same as Russia although both share similarities. Putin’s Russia seeks to recover its status as a world power. The party in power operates within an authoritarian structure that…
The President Trump and Impending Star Wars
The US could face truly challenging times because, not only provides the best possible vantage point to surveil activity on earth, it also greatly facilitates navigation, communication, targeting, and command and control. For the past 70 years, the U.S. military has leaned heavily on space as a force multiplier, integrating it as a critical component of its joint war-fighting capabilities thanks to technological advances in sensors and satellites.»
As Technology Trumps Realpolitik Anarchy will most probably reign
As the 21st century advances its technology-based wealth creation is wiping away every cultural; managerial or political ties to the industrial society. Politics, of course, could not be spared from this evolutive wave. The leading world powers would create and maintain stability by means of approaching both politics and diplomacy with pragmatism. And as realpolitik falls further in the dustbin of history anarchy will most probably set in.
Is Brazil breaking with its nonviolent past?
The political system has been shocked by the discovery and prosecution of corruption; the disruption of the presidential term of Dilma Roussef and the escalation of the attack of organized crime against political institutions. Brazilian people have thus launched themselves in search of a rescuer.
Latin America 17 Years after September 11, 2001
Two historic events that have marked the 21st Century happened on 11 September of 2001. The terrorist attack against the United States by the Al-Qaeda network (9/11) and the signing, in Lima, Peru, of the Interamerican Democratic Charter (IDC). Seventeen years later, the challenge is to revert the negative effects of 9/11 and end dictatorships.
Brazilian Presidential Race Led by Polarizing Figures
Brazilian society finds itself in a situation of polarization that has been aggravated with the corruption scandals. The two leading candidates seem to represent a poor choice for most Brazilians. If the legal system can impose itself above political considerations, this is a victory for Brazilian law and order. The outcome of this election will affect the direction of Brazilian democracy and foreign policy for years to come and could lead to serious consequences for the people of Brazil and for the region.
China’s soft economic power grows in Latin America but U.S can play a more important card
China is not the same as Russia although both share similarities. China is an economic superpower that through trade has penetrated large parts of the world.
